Hear from one of our graduates, Louis, about his experiences in his first year at Boxfusion and what working for us is really like.

Like many graduates, I spent hour after hour deliberating my intended career path, attending dozens of careers fairs and reading page after page of corporate content. Unsure about the industry I wanted to work in, I was just focusing on the aspects of working life that appealed to me – a stimulating working environment, responsibility and to be technically challenged on a daily basis. Basically, I didn’t want to be spoonfed in a generic graduate role.

Landing at Boxfusion

Shortly after graduating from Warwick University with a Masters degree in Chemistry, I joined Boxfusion and before I knew it, I was jetting off to Madrid for a two week intensive bootcamp!

My IT background when I joined the company was limited, but after 8 weeks of intensive training and with the support of my colleagues I grasped new concepts quickly and I was able to make a real contribution to the newly formed cloud team within the first few months of my career.

For example, I played a lead development role in the much publicised Maternity Assist Service Cloud project. Exposure to the full project lifecycle so early in my career really accelerated my progress as a consultant and after just 6 months in the role, I felt very confident in my technical and consulting abilities.

Continuing Development

Soon after, I was busy achieving Implementation Specialist certified status for Oracle Service Cloud, a massive achievement considering my experience level, portraying DSC_0632 1what you can achieve at Boxfusion with the wealth of knowledge and training resources available.

Additionally, I have had exposure to the sales process, and mocked up multiple client demos, gaining a valuable insight into multiple industries and learning new development skills along the way. I am constantly learning as every set of business requirements is unique!

My Perspective

I have throughly enjoyed my first year at Boxfusion and found that life as a consultant is a throughly rewarding profession, with high levels of satisfaction for hard workers and ambitious minds.

Even though I’ve always had a passion for technology, I wouldn’t consider myself an ‘IT geek’, and my first year in the role has taught me that to be successful as an IT Consultant depends on a range of business, technical and interpersonal skills (and you don’t necessarily need to be able to use the command line like a ninja!)

If you are a graduate looking for a highly rewarding career, based on my experience I’d strongly recommend applying to Boxfusion! Check out the current vacancies here.
